2009-12-03

Dear colleague,

We are pleased to inform you about the international key event of the Small Hydropower sector, Hidroenergia 2010, which will take place on 16-19 June 2010. This event gathers together all the main actors of the small hydropower sector and is organised for the first time in Switzerland, in Lausanne.

The biennial Hidroenergia conferences have been organized by ESHA (European Small Hydropower Association www.esha.be ) already since 1989. The Hidroenergia 2010 edition is co-organized by MHyLab (Laboratoire de mini-hydraulique de Montcherand www.mhylab.ch ), an ESHA member representing the host country.

The Hidroenergia conferences attract over 300 delegates and around 30 exhibitors worldwide bringing together broad range of SHP experts and stakeholders for two days of conference and exhibition. The following topics have been chosen as key areas of Hidroenergia 2010:

New regulation and finance
Innovative technologies
Perspectives and development of SHP in Switzerland, in Europe and globally
Environmental integration
New possibilities with multi-functional plants
Climate change impact on hydropower and integrated water management
Experience and good practice sharing

Moreover, and for the first time, Hidroenergia 2010 will also emphasize and focus on training and education in the field of small hydropower. Hidroenergia 2010 introduces a "Students' Corner", where students may present their projects and ideas.

The Organizing Committee consists of the following representatives: Bernhard Pelikan, the President of ESHA, Gema San Bruno, Secretary General of ESHA, Jean-Bernard Gay, the President of MHyLab, Rémy Freimuller, the Vice-President of MHyLab and Vincent Denis, the Head of MHyLab.

Please find enclosed Call for papers together with our Guide for Exhibitors and Sponsors which contain information on all the available sponsorship and exhibition opportunities. The detailed conference programme and invitations to register will be published in February 2010.

Please note that the deadline for sending you abstract is 15 December 2009 (please see details on the call for papers attached).
